Ohio medical cannabis regulatory organs decided not to consider a petition submitted for adding female difficulty with orgazmem (FOD) as one of the qualifying factors, reasoning that most patients suffering with FOD already qualified under other accepted criteria like physical pain or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Oredownians have been working since last year to convince Ohio Medical Cannabis Board of this condition, commonly referred to as female infertility, so as to get it officially recognized. Even though current petition will likely fail, its organizers remain convinced of its legitimacy and continue their fight at every opportunity available to them.
An individual petition to add more vulnerable autistic spectrum disorders for treatment will soon progress into an open public comment and assessment phase by experts.
Suzanne Mulvehill, a clinical sexuologist and researcher who championed adding FOD into medical marijuana programs at several sites, told MEDCAN24 that after 12 years of investigation and unconfirmed reports it has become evident that cannabis may indeed effectively treat FOD.

As far as Ohio authorities were concerned, FOD patients could obtain legal prescriptions of marijuana-based treatments for other conditions; Mulvehill stated this statement only applied in certain instances and not across all cases.
„While PTSD and depression may contribute to FOD, they’re not the sole factors impacting it”, noted Dziala. Incorporating other causes including menopauze, intimacy issues, psychological treatments such as medication (especially depressant drugs), sexual use during childhood as well as sociocultural factors psychological treatments or relationships can all have an influence.
Dr Douglas Woo, a neurologist from Athens in Ohio who also handles autism cases, successfully filed this new petition on FOD as qualifying condition in Ohio and two other women intend to relaunch fundraising in this regard as soon as an opportunity presents itself for him to sign it. Illinois, Connecticut and New Mexico have taken steps toward including FOD as an acceptable form of treatment. Last March the Medical Cannabis Advisory Board in Illinois officially authorized adding FOD; later on its addition was confirmed by Illinois’ health department.
Recently in Oregon, Oregon Health Authority officials denied petitions on the basis of lack of randomised, controlled studies confirming marijuana as effective therapy for FOD.
„Studies like these are necessary not only to demonstrate any benefits of Indian crops in treating FOD”, noted an agency’s letter dated 6 December 2016 concerning petition filing in this state, „but also for clarifying potential adverse (harmful) results of use, effective dosing mechanisms and consumption patterns as well as any other key indicators which must be carefully considered”.
Mulvehill, who specializes in using marijuana to treat FOD, told MEDCAN24 that Oregon’s decision was inconsistent with other states’ inclusion of qualifying PTSD disorders as qualifying illnesses.
„Profse noted Oregon as one of the first states that recognized Posttraumatic Stress Disorder – in 2013 without ANY published or random controlled research – with NO random control studies or published or random control research being published” – as she stated. Why then were FOD requirements more stringent?” she queried.
At the start of this week, Mulvehill informed supporters via an e-mail update that Oregon’s withdrawal of FOD from Oregon constitutes an act of revenge, with suspension scheduled to begin early May.
Rounds have since taken place in Michigan, Pennsylvannia, Colorado and New Jersey.
Mulvehill seeks out qualified attorneys capable of concluding FOD related claims in Arizona, Delaware and Nevada.
Regulatory bodies in Maryland, Arkansas and Mississippi recently denied early petitions filed in those states. An update by Mulvehill expects new petitions will be filed along with another form of female illness (for instance torbiele jajnikow, mesniaki macicy or endometrioza); all were confirmed with FOD certification in Illinois.
Publisheded last year, research regarding marihuana and endometriozy revealed that female participants using marihuana for self-treatment assessed it as the „most successful approach to alleviating symptoms associated with endometriosis”.
While Maryland officials dismissed FOD petitions, they acknowledged two recent studies which they deemed feasible; including one conducted by Mulvehill and Jordan Tishler of Indian community hospitals who performed medical marijuana studies to demonstrate its potential health benefits, including increased frequency and intensity of breathing episodes as well as enhanced satisfaction from using it to get high and easier accessing marijuana for medical uses.
